How to Master Cleanse

This How to Master Cleanse is better know as the “lemon, maple syrup and cayenne pepper diet” I wouldn’t call it a diet, but an internal cleanse for good. It’s basically a spiced up lemonade that’s drank throughout the day. Let me tell you all about it…

The Master Cleanse is better known as the “lemon, maple syrup and cayenne pepper diet” but I would not call it a diet in the regular sense of food change. Losing weight is definitely a side effect, but I wanted to cleanse my insides and reset a few things internally, to be the utmost and feel better! This is definitely something one must be focused on in completing. It is all in the mind. I have never felt hungry in the past seven years of undertaking this annual journey. When I first came across this I thought it would be a great kick start to a better, healthier way of eating. Upon further review this is especially beneficial to diabetics. So please contact your doctor prior to using this, I am not one.

In the attached Master Cleanse pamphlet (30 pages) PDF it states, “The following program has been tested and approved since 1940 in all sections of the world as the most successful of any diet of its type. Nothing can compare with its positive approach toward perfection in the cleansing and healing field. Nothing can compare with its rapidity and completeness. It is superior in every way as a reducing and body conditioning diet.”

I also found it amazing how much time we dedicate to thinking of food, shopping for food, prepping it, serving it, eating it, cleaning up after. You will discover you have a lot of time on your hands so exercise more! Another fun side effect is there are really no dishes to clean!

Read the first like 12 pages that should give you the nuts and bolts of it all. This is for 10 Days, but you can go farther. Please read.

Here is the down and dirty of it all:
Every evening:

  • 1 cup of Smooth Move tea before bed

Every morning:

  • 1 quart warm/hot water with 2 tsp of sea salt

All Day:

  • 1 gallon jug
  • 1 cup of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup Grade B Maple Syrup (Sprouts store)
  • 1 tsp of cayenne pepper
  1. Fill the gallon jug with the 1 cup of fresh lemon juice, 1 cup Grade B Maple Syrup and the 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper add water to fill.
  2. I buy 3 large bags of lemons from Costco you’ll need 4 lemons a day equals 1 cup.
  3. I get the Grade B Maple Syrup in 16 oz small jugs (buy 5 of these), you will use 1 cup a day which is 8 oz.

NOTHING ELSE ALL DAY EXCEPT AS MUCH WATER AS YOU LIKE OR HERBAL TEA

Be sure to put some probiotics back into your system coming off the Master Cleanse. The ones I use Are Ultimate Flora Adult Formula 15 Billion (10 Probiotic Strains). Age, poor diet and stress can deplete our bodies of billions of good bacteria, which can lead to digestive upsets such as occasional constipation, gas and bloating. Probiotics are the healthy cultures or “friendly bacteria” inside us that help us digest and produce nutrients, restore digestive balance, and support our immune system. Since we just literally flushed and bathed our intestines for 10 straight days, these taken at every meal help get things back on track for 5-7 days.

    1. I would read the PDF download for those recommendations as I’m not a nutritionist, but I personally do it yearly.

  1. I am currently on day 7 of my cleanse. This is my second time doing it. The first time I drank a quart of salt water every morning, which helped flush me. I read another website which said you only have to drink 8 oz which is what i have been doing this time around, but I have rarely flushed. Have i defeated my purpose?

    1. Nou, it’s often times a change for me as well in regards to the morning salt water. Please just download the PDF in my post link and read that over. It details everything. I would not think you defeated anything. Congrats on Day 7!

    1. I can only speak from my own experience and in doing this yearly and the average was 12-14 pounds. I am no nutritionist or dietitian by any means and I am sure the number of pounds will vary by person and also by any added physical activity you do as well. The goal with doing this is to cleanse the body inside. Read the downloadable PDF here and read more on it. Best of luck and remember it is all in your mind. You can do it!

  2. I just came in to look up your blackerry tarragon salad dressing and just came across this.My husband and I started doing something cery similar years ago. I’ve never tried the salt water before, but I have been wanting to to start fasting again. I have never made 10 full days, but am going to try with some short 3 day fasts. It does get easier after you have done a couple, especially if you start with short ones. It really does make me feel some much better, and as for weight loss, it doesn’t really do so much there. As soon as you eat, you fill back out????

    1. That salt water each morning is, ummm, very cleansing. 🙂 It’s all balance and moderation, right? Have a great weekend Cathy!

  3. Hi, thanks for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us! The links for the pamphlet and the first 12 pages are not working. Is there another way to get to them?

    1. Hi Mary, no problem. I just redesigned the site so maybe the link was not updated. I just relinked to be sure, or click here. All the best for an awesome 2016! 🙂

  4. I’ve done this lemon juice -Master Cleanse before, years ago. I did it for 10 days, it was wonderful. My suggestion -, it is hard to take the salt water, which is only to help you excrete fecal matter from the body. Instead of the salt water, I took “Super Colon Cleanse” herbal capsules, from the health store, instead. It also helps to drink a glass of water with psyllium husk instead so you don’t have a flow of toxic diarrhea because it hurts the bottom. Psyllium husk gives substance so your bowel movement and it does make a HUGE difference. I think I’m going to do this cleanse again. It is great.

    1. I do actually. I would be careful and aware of your own body, but I am not a doctor. Might want to consult one if this makes you lightheaded or dizzy. It has never been my experience, but see how it goes by starting out slowly and pace yourself. Best of luck doing the 10 Day Master Cleanse nonetheless!

    1. I would not, but I’m no dietician or doctor. I would think it could upset your stomach with no food. If you are on any medication I would consult your doctor first.
Actually, I just finished my yearly Master Cleanse. It gets easier! 🙂

  5. can you drink any kind of herbal tea? Does it have to be decaf? Also, when do you start taking the probiotics.
    Thanks!

    1. Yes I wrote that you can drink herbal tea and it does state that in the PDF you can download. As for caffeine, it is recommended that you DO NOT have any – you are cleansing your body. The probiotics are taken after the cleanse is completed. All the information is in the PDF you can download. Thanks for visiting the site!

  6. Ive tried this cleanse a couple times. I cannot get the salt water down. I get half way through it and i involuntarily vomit it up. I’ve tried it warm I’ve tried it cold. I’ve tried mixing it with the lemonade. I’ve tried putting two teaspoons in a small amount of water chugging that and then finishing the qrt without the salt. Everytime halfway through it comes up. My question is can I do the Master Cleanse with a magnesium citrate laxative and get the same results? Instead of doing the salt water?

    1. Shanna,
I have no experience more than you do in doing this cleanse as I have no medical background for an answer. It is not one of my favorite things to drink, but it does the trick. I have it warm, pretend it’s chicken broth, and hold my breath and chug it down. It bathes and soothes the intestines as it moves things along to expel. Sorry, but I have no better answer for you. I have on occasion the reaction you mentioned, but do what I can. I do this yearly for my body, not the side effect of any weight loss, and always feel good after I’m done. Best of luck and maybe inquire with your doctor?
