An incredible substitute for the traditional ketchup barbecue sauce, my Alabama White Sauce is a tangy, mayonnaise based white sauce that delivers big on flavor.

- 2 cups mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup cream style horseradish (See Note 1)
- 1⁄4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp yellow mustard
- 3 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cayenne
- Prepared horseradish is made with grated horseradish root, vinegar, and salt. Prepared horseradish is not the same as horseradish sauce but is an ingredient in it. Creamy Horseradish Sauce combines prepared horseradish with cream, sour cream, or mayonnaise, which makes it milder and creamier (The Spruce Eats). If using prepared horseradish, I would start with a 1/4 cup and taste test to suit your tastes for heat level.
