This meal cooks up SO quickly. Seriously, it takes less than 15 minutes to go from pan to plate! It’s perfect for the crazy busy days when you’re literally coming in the door at 8pm, and nobody has eaten dinner yet.

Crispy Pan Seared Salmon

The seasoning is simple but packed with flavor. I use homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning but if you prefer, use your favorite store bought version. The seasoning is rubbed on the salmon and sautéed in butter to a golden brown.

In need of a new batch of Everything Bagel Seasoning the other day, I made a little extra and decided it would make for a great crust for some salmon filets I had picked up. I was right!

This is a fantastic, multi-flavored crust on the buttery salmon with hints of sesame, onion, garlic and poppy seeds.

This crispy pan seared salmon has it all, from a crispy, crusted outside of buttery garlic and onion with the flavors of sesame and poppy seeds to a tender, flakey inside that goes perfectly together.

FAQ and Recipe Notes

Do you season salmon before cooking?

Wait to add any seasoning until just before you cook the salmon. This prevents the salt in the seasoning from breaking down the proteins in the fish.

What is the white stuff that comes out of salmon as it cooks?

Although it isn’t exactly eye candy, that white glob of congealed protein on your salmon is perfectly safe to eat. The scientific name for it is albumin.

How long does it take to cook pan seared salmon?

2-3 minutes per side is all it takes in a skillet over medium high heat with some butter.

Serving Suggestions for Crispy Pan Seared Salmon?

I serve this healthy meal with sides of steamed rice or wild rice pilaf and delish Honey Balsamic Roasted Brussels Sprouts.
