Mozzarella Stick Waffles

Mozzarella stick waffles are a quick snack that’s fun to make and delicious too! Make this 10 minute recipe using frozen breaded cheese sticks.
After a press in the waffle iron these crunchy, cheesy mozzarella sticks have more edges, more crunchy, cooked cheese and are perfect for dunking and eating.
I add even more cheese on top by sprinkling the waffled cheese sticks with crumbled Cotija cheese, plus a drizzle of Mexican crema.
Mozzarella stick waffles
I love to switch things up a bit, and it’s fun to elevate an already tasty snack, I took Farm Rich bread mozzarella sticks and baked them in a waffle iron.
Stay with me here. See, this ensures all the more nooks and crannies for a dipping sauce to adhere to. This hot and cheesy appetizer is amazing!
A slam dunk dipping sauce
Instead of the usual go to Italian marinara sauce, I went a little south of the border for a Mexican influenced twist. You could use any kind of dipping sauce, but with the Mexican flavors, my tomatillo salsa verde is perfect for dunking.
Whether you serve the mozzarella stick waffles for snacks during the BIG Sunday football game, March Madness, or just a simple get-together with friends, they will disappear quickly!
To be sure there’s enough food for the fans, you could also make some crispy baked chicken wings and baked jalapeno poppers.
The poppers have a little kick to them that’s balanced with a smooth layer of cream cheese for back up. You can never have too much food on game day. Enjoy!

Oh wow, what a way to take mozzarella sticks to a whole new level! I love this so much! And your photos are absolutely stunning, my friend!
Mozzarella. Will it waffle? Yes, it will! GREG
I love when the cheese oozes out when in the waffle iron and gets all crispy! So good. 🙂
Clever
…and quite tasty too. 😉
Genius. Pure genius. I am doing this from now on.
Thanks Kimberly! 🙂
These are so dangerous, Kevin. I may not do Game Day, but I sure would do these.
I really only do game day for the food myself. 😉
Way to kick up a store bought mozza stick! Soooo clever !
Thank you Kathi, all the more nooks and crannies to catch the toppings and dip with a little waffle press! ?
Wowzers! These look deadly, Kevin! Mozzarella sticks are da bomb and love what you’ve done with them using your waffle iron. I’m seriously not into football…..like, at all. I know nothing about the sport. But, if someone was having a get together and there was this kind of food involved, I would gladly participate in the festivities…..by eating, of course 😉 Pinning these. Hope you have a fantastic weekend. We may get A LOT of snow this weekend, so it’s the perfect one for staying in, cuddling up and eating delicious food like this 🙂
Thanks Dawn, it’s elevating a classic and with different cheeses to top and salsas to dip in it’s fun! Seriously, I’m more into the food and commercials (coming from an advertising background) myself. So we watch the bigger games and enjoy our friends and have a great time with snacks like these! Cheers and have a snuggling, warm weekend! It’s raining like mad here. 🙂
I like it! Basically, you grabbed quite common precooked food and in no time turned it into something fancy and party-worthy. Besides, who would resist the cheese appetizer in a waffle form? I won’t:) Nicely done and have a great weekend.
Thanks Ben! All the more nooks and crannies to catch the toppings and dip with a little waffle press! 🙂
